Day 5: What causes Day & Night
Today we made the world go round, literally, as we learnt about the Earths’s rotation hands-on.
Learners investigated how sunlight falls on the Earth and understand what causes day and night.
We signed off in style with each learner getting a certificate of badges earned for demonstrating behaviours of a Scientist, during the program!

Day 4: Which materials conduct electricity?

We had a fun start to the day playing laser tag with mirrors - to extend our understanding that light travels in a straight line.
Learners then predicted whether different materials would conduct electricity and tested each to check their predictions. They connected this understanding to the world around them.

Aarav always goes the extra mile and takes ownership of his learning. He asked critical questions like, "If fiber is an insulator, how does a quilt retain energy and provide heat?" He didn't shy away from making predictions about where electricity is stored and came up with many answers: "If we remove the bulb, will the fan still work and complete the circuit?"

Day 3:
a) Exploring Simple Machines (contd.)
b) Does Light Travel in a straight Line?
Our exploration of Simple Machines continued with Wheel and Axle, Screws and Inclined Planes.
Learners switched gears to tinker with light, sound, water and air to figure out whether each could pass to the other side of a bent straw. They explored reflection with Laser light and mirrors.

Aarav asked a lot of questions and also used the right words to explain the concept of 'light travels in a straight line'. He provided a hypothesis for why sound passed through a bent straw and why the light didn’t using appropriate vocabulary to describe sound (”Vibrations”)

Day 2: Exploring Simple Machines

Learners explored 2 Simple Machines today - Lever and Pulley.
They experimented with different configurations of both and understood that these machines help in reducing the effort involved in lifting weights.
Take a peek at Aarav's day at the program.

Often today Aarav was ahead of the group in his level of understanding of the activity. Still he gave the rest of the group the space to answer questions and figure things out for themselves. He helped the group whenever he could.

Day 1: Conditions needed for Germination

-
What is germination?
-
What is the process of germination?
-
What are the essential conditions needed for a seed to germinate?
Find out how Aarav explored these concepts hands-on.

Aarav clearly understood the variables being tested in the experiment, predicted outcomes and provided reasoning for his predictions.
